Thoughts on the New Moon in Gemini
I can't believe we're halfway through the year. The time sure is flying by. We're already midway through Gemini season and you may have noticed the energy picking up big.time. in the past couple of weeks.
Gemini is an Air sign, ruled by planet Mercury, and symbolized by the twins. Mercury governs our communication, thought process, and how we perceive the world around us, particularly our local environment. Gemini energy is fast-moving, fun, and incessantly curious. It can be a time where we feel like our to-do lists are ever-growing, lots of chatter abound with neighbors, friends, and your local community—and a time of the year where it's easy to feel scattered and even anxious as we move from one task, person, appointment, place, or thought to the next.
Not only is the Moon and Sun moving through Gemini for today's New Moon, but it's also traveling alongside Venus, planet of love and relationships, with Mercury trailing close by, followed also by Jupiter, planet of expansion and abundance. That's a ton of Gemini energy all at once!!
Today's New Moon in Gemini peaked early this morning at 5:38 AM PST, and marks a potent time of both planting new seeds, while also being held accountable for seeds planted in the recent past. The Gemini New Moon features a conjunction with Venus and a square to Saturn in Pisces, so we can assume love, money, boundaries, and karma is part of the story.
It's pretty darn magical (and rare!) to have a New Moon conjunct Venus, but the 90 degree square to Saturn that's building (exact over the weekend…) brings up tension, delays, consequences, and perhaps a sobering reality check into the mix. Buzzkill. But, it also presents an opportunity for an important check-in.
It can be helpful to look back to when the Sun and Venus were conjunct with Saturn for clues around the story unfolding for you at this time. The Sun was conjunct Saturn in Pisces back on February 28, 2024 and Venus was conjunct Saturn on March 22, 2024. You can take things a step further by pulling up your Birth Chart to see what Houses (area of life) you have Pisces and Gemini for further clues, particularly if you have any personal planets there, as you will be feeling the energy even more intensely. I also like to look back to my calendar, text threads, emails, and photo app, to help remind me of the energy I was in on and around those dates.
But that's not all. As this New Moon + Venus square Saturn situation is happening, we are also building to a square with Mars in Taurus and retrograde Pluto in Aquarius, exact next Tuesday, June 11th! More tense energy and check-ins around the seeds you were planting back on February 14th, 2024, and how it relates to transformation, new, innovative ideas or experiences, and taking aligned action to make your dreams comes true. Mercury will reach the New Moon degree point in Gemini on that same day next Tuesday, forming that same square to Saturn in Pisces as it does. Yikes.
I don't know about you, but a big storyline has been playing out in my life since February of this year, and I'm certainly feeling the intensity ramp up this week as the energy reaches new heights. It can feel like we are at an important crossroads, with some big decisions to make. Decisions centered around things that began earlier this year that have something important to show us, teach us, and evolve us in never-before-experienced ways.
All of the energy in Gemini right now means that our minds and thoughts are front and center and unavoidable. The mental chit chat is loud rn. Gemini wants to collect multiple POV's and can be a bit indecisive around making any major decisions or commitments. It can also feel rushed to make a decision and then backtrack to go the opposite direction. Ahhh, the dual nature of the twins!
The Pluto in Aquarius and Saturn in Pisces energy is quite the opposite. It wants powerful, deep change, desires being pursued, appropriate structures being built, commitments being solidified, and stagnant chapters closing out to clear the way for new paths. And it wants us to be firmly held accountable in our truth. No wavering allowed.
I think it can be helpful to remember at this time that we are more than just our thoughts and what we think we need to do. I'd argue that our bodies and intuition are way more valuable than our thoughts can ever hope to be. The intelligence our bodies and energy centers hold can be our greatest compass at this time. If we pause long enough to sit with ourselves and access it.
I'm working with the energy of this New Moon to give myself time to let things unfold before making any major decisions. I'm intentionally using the slowdown aspects this New Moon brings with the squares to Saturn and Pluto to sit with all of it. The mental, physical, emotional, and energetic. Granting myself time and space before making any decisive moves, while still taking action each day in the direction I think I want to go. Leaving myself space (and grace) to be surprised when I change my mind or learn something new.
